June 3, 2011, first time in my life I ever stuck a hand balance for 60 seconds! So exciting. I set the timer for 1min 20sec to include set up time... I thought I fell early then i heard the beep as I landed. Shocking! :)
Hand Balancing Straddle Pike 26 seconds

Amazing what practice can do. Day 1 i was averaging 15 seconds, and the second day i got to 26, although on an easier position for me, the piked straddle, which i feel helps me balance more.... I am happy about this though, because there was a point that my legs were starting to fall but I was able to save it a bit longer and raise them up a bit. :)

It is almost like riding a bike, once you get it, its there... well almost. This is a day after i found my balance on the pike. I thought it would take me longer to figure out how to do handstand. Next goal is to increase time to eventually 60 seconds, and also to just kick up to it without the help of the wall :)

It is exciting when you start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. It is almost addictive. The handstand straight up is still more challenging. The pike is somehow easier. According to my teacher Ido Portal, it is because of all my years of Pilates, the habit of keeping your stomach scooped in makes the pike position easier. I like the disciplines forged among athletes, they keep respect of each other’s hardwork and sportsmanship. And i learned from an athlete friend that the highest respect you give to compete with other athletes is to give your best.
